Today is a BIG day. Not only is it the one-year anniversary for the Born Creative blog, but it is also the launch of the blog’s rebrand! Reflecting upon the last 12 months has made me very aware of where I could use improvement. To be completely honest, I’ve never been fully satisfied with the blog’s (lack of) branding or site design. I figured the best gift I could give the blog for this anniversary was a complete overhaul. So, in celebration of all the creatives out there, I present to you the newly improved Born Creative blog!
When I designed the Born Creative blog last year it was a spur of the moment decision. I got the idea in my mind and only gave myself a week before launching. I absolutely did not want to make this mistake again – I’ve been working out all the details of this rebrand since late August! If you have ever thought about rebranding your business, you absolutely can not jump in headfirst. The first step you need to take is re-evalutating what your brand is and what it provides. To do this, ask yourself these questions:
• What is your business’ message?
• Does your business embody it’s core message?
• Is your branding accurately reflecting your business?
• Where do you see your business in the next year?
The Born Creative message was something that I struggled with during the past year. Whenever I had an idea that I wanted to post, it didn’t seem to fit the theme of the blog. I took some time to really address what this blog represents and how it could tie in to all my other interests that I’m itching to share with you. The outcome is this new, refined mission:
Born Creative is a place to share unique inspiration that will motivate us all to discover the potential we have within ourselves. CLICK TO TWEET
For a further explanation of what this blog has to offer, visit the about page! Aside from an updated description, you’ll also notice some other surprises on the about page too. I’ve introduced my web designer who also doubles as a new guest writer! Brian was brought onboard as an additional writer because the posts have been very sporadic in the past and the blog needed a more frequent flow of content. We’ve created a posting schedule so you now know what to expect in your inbox. Each week starts off with a dose of creative inspiration and ends with fitness or lifestyle tips and personal stories.
After all the content issues were sorted through, it was finally time to start rebranding the actual design (my favorite part). The brand guidelines for Born Creative were pretty much non-existent when I started the blog. I actually did not have any ideas for a logo at that time, because I was rushing, and ended up using a previously designed vector self-portrait. This was far from how I wanted the blog to be recognized by. The overall site design came out great for only spending a week working on it, but it never felt finished. Creating a new logo, set brand guidelines, and a fully rebranded site were where most of my time went this past month and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
Rebranding can be a daunting task but sometimes it is necessary. I am proud of the past content that was published, but I didn’t feel like it was reaching anybody. Now the Born Creative blog has a refined message, an additional writer, brand guidelines, and a website that easily flows page to page. These changes have provided a fresh start, just in time for the blog’s one-year anniversary! If you want to stay inspired and get weekly doses of creativity directly to your inbox, subscribe!
I hope you like the new changes and look forward to your feedback in the comments below!
Michelle,
Congrats on your year anniversary. I TOTALLY love the idea of a rebranding for your 1 year anniversary. What a great gift. I can tell you put in the hard work to make this blog it’s best. I’m coming up on my 1 year in Nov. and am currently working on a logo. Congrats again and I will definitely be back!
Jenn
Thank you SO much, Jenn! I can’t wait to see your new logo in November 😀
